How can Yorkshire Jobshops help me?

Yorkshire JobShops can help you to find skilled, motivated and enthusiastic staff to fill your part time, temporary, or vacation vacancies.

JobShops can advertise vacancies to a wide range of students actively seeking employment and can match your requirements against a database of students' skills and availability to make sure the right candidates know about your opportunities.

Most JobShops have a database of available students who are keen to undertake part-time and/or temporary work, often at very short notice. They can publicise your vacancy to students, by placing details on websites and notice boards. Students who are interested in applying can then contact you directly, or some JobShops will arrange to collect CVs / application forms for you.

Some JobShops will offer a shortlisting and interviewing service, and some even offer a full agency service and will handle payment, National Insurance, etc. Contact each JobShop for further details.

Yes - using the Yorkshire Jobshops website is completely free of charge.

Most JobShops also offer their services to employers as a completely free service - advertising your vacancies to available students for no charge.

Some JobShops, however, may charge for extra services such as short-listing, interviewing, selection of staff, payment of wages/National Insurance, etc.

Contact individual JobShops directly to discuss further details of any charged services.

How much should I pay?

The rate of pay you offer for your vacancy depends on what kind of skills you require and exactly what kind of work the student will be undertaking.

When you place your vacancy, JobShop staff will be able to help you set an appropriate and realistic pay rate for your vacancy.

All JobShops operate to a code of practice that will stipulate the minimum pay rate - this is usually in line with the Government's National Minimum Wage.

My vacancy requires specific skills, can you still help?

Yes! JobShops keep databases that allow them to search for students with specific skills and/or experience. They can find people who are available exactly when you want them and who have exactly the skills you require.

Students are keen to gain part time employment while at university - it allows them to put their skills and qualities developed at university to practice in a real world business setting, it offers a financial supplement to their student loan, and it gives them the chance to gain valuable work experience to add to their CV, adding to their employability when they graduate.
